Black Urban Media is proud to present and inform our readers about indie film that is up and coming. The name of the film is called, “Fun”.

“Fun” is set to shoot in Charlotte, NC in December of 2014. It was written by Stacey Rose, an MFADramatic Writing candidate from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. It will be directed by Brittany M. Fennell, a third year MFA Film candidate from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and Isiah Donté Lee, a BFA student from North Carolina School of the Arts, will serve as the film’s cinematographer.

“Fun” is the story of a married couple, Kenya and Able, who have lost the spark in their marriage and are seeking to regain it by some very questionable means. This is the third in a series of five minute shorts that explore universal ideas as perceived by a divergent group of characters. The first shorts of the series “Peace” and “Hate” were shot in July 2014 in the Bronx, NY.

The group seeks to raise half its production costs via an Indiegogo campaign that launched on October 18, 2014 at: Project: Fun Indiegogo fundraiser. The campaign seeks to raise $2500 in 30 days to cover travel & lodging for cast and crew, craft services, as well as equipment fees.

The Perceptions Project began in the summer of 2014 by a group of filmmakers composed of students from some of the most prestigious institutions for film studies in the country as well as practicing film professionals. The group seeks to engage audiences with stories that challenge what they believe in a way will spark a conversation about understanding of the other.

One of the producers of the film, Chris Everett, has produced one of the most controversial, but educational documentary based on the hidden black business district that was burned to the ground in 1898, Wilmington on Fire.
