It’s no secret that over the past few years we’ve suffered from tremendous job cuts throughout the country. The US economy is in shambles! One minute economists are optimistic about the job growth, the next minute it’s stagnant. Millions of people are totally frustrated with the shallow job market that existed since 2007. It’s now 2013 and people want to know if things are getting better.
According to statistics, U.S. employers added 236,000 jobs in February that lowered the unemployment rate to 7.7% from 7.9%. It’s suppose to be the lowest percentage in four years. Unfortunately, the unemployment rate for African Americans is 13.8% and black teen joblessness rose from 37.8% to 43.1%.
In my opinion we need to have more successful black businesses and in order to obtain that we need to collectively support them in order to be in a fair and competitive playing field in this country. The black dollar is hardly circulated within the community and that plays a big role in the problems that effect us today. A person who throughly explains this and has a solution for it is no other than Claude Anderson. He has an underrated influential book called PowerNomics : The National Plan to Empower Black America and Black Labor, White Wealth : The Search for Power and Economic Justice.
