Is the job market green for 2013?

frustrated2_black_man

It’s no secret that over the past few years we’ve suffered from tremendous job cuts throughout the country. The US economy is in shambles! One minute economists are optimistic about the job growth, the next minute it’s stagnant. Millions of people are totally frustrated with the shallow job market that existed since 2007. It’s now 2013 and people want to know if things are getting better.

According to statistics, U.S. employers added 236,000 jobs in February that lowered the unemployment rate to 7.7% from 7.9%. It’s suppose to be the lowest percentage in four years. Unfortunately, the unemployment rate for African Americans is 13.8% and black teen joblessness rose from 37.8% to 43.1%.

In my opinion we need to have more successful black businesses and in order to obtain that we need to collectively support them in order to be in a fair and competitive playing field in this country. The black dollar is hardly circulated within the community and that plays a big role in the problems that effect us today. A person who throughly explains this and has a solution for it is no other than Claude AndersonHe has an underrated influential book called PowerNomics : The National Plan to Empower Black America and Black Labor, White Wealth : The Search for Power and Economic Justice.

  1. Ola! Blackurbanmedia,
I know what you mean, Why do the dems pushing the and Obama lie about green jobs and tech jobs?
I worked at Boeing for 30 years and technologies aim is to cut labor cost not create jobs. So if any of these come about it will cut the job market as it has so CEO’s can pocket the money!

  3. Hi Blackurbanmedia,
In addition to your post I was wondering, As per policy I do qualify for the Danish Green Card scheme. Can anybody help me to know how is the job market at Denmark? specially for those who don’t know Scandinavian languages. I’ve done MBA and have more than 1 year experience of Channel Development & sales at a multinational FMCG company.

Can anybody help me to decide? what should I do? specially those who’ve availed this scheme.
    Nice One!

  4. India’s Graduates – 2012

As per one estimate , there are 33,000 colleges in India

The Economic Times ( April, 02, 2013 ) quotes following figures in respect of students graduating from India’s colleges in 2012 , based on a research conducted by a consulting firm Knowledgefaber :

    # Total No of students who graduated ………………………. 5,090,799

    Of these,

     Arts/Science/Commerce students ( 45.7 % ) …………… 2,326,495
     Engineering & Technology ( 7 % ) ……………… 356,570

    # Discipline-wise breakup of Engineering / Tech students was :

     Computer Science / IT ……………………………………………………… 115,711
     Electronics …………………………………………………………………………. 77,850
     Mechanical ………………………………………………………………………… 63,044
     Electrical ………………………………………………………………………… 38,569
     Civil …………………………………………………………………………. 21,736
     Chemical …………………………………………………………………………. 11,890
     Others …………………………………………………………………………… 27,770

    # Degrees Acquired

     Graduate ……………….. 76.8 %
     Post Graduates ……… 7.7 %
     Doctorates ………………. 0.4 %
     Others ………………………. 15.1 %

    Question :

Are there enough jobs for all of them ?

    Answer :

Yes , provided these graduates are willing to search beyond large Public Limited companies and are willing to take-up jobs with India’s 12 Million SMEs , each employing between 5 / 50 persons and requiring to fill 1 / 5 vacancies every year .
These SMEs currently employ 41 million persons. Growing at 10% per year , they create some 4 million vacancies every year !
But these Small / Medium Enterprises neither advertise in newspapers nor on job-portals . And they don’t get invited for campus interviews !
So , the graduating students will need to find and use a RESUME BLASTER APP , of which several are freely available on Google Play Store
During a job-interview , to be still unemployed months after graduation , becomes the greatest “ disqualification “ in the eyes of the recruiter !
It is better to have any job than no job !
And, somewhere out there , is a job waiting for each of the 51 lakh graduates !
No recruiter has time to search / find resume of a suitable Fresh Graduate from amongst millions , in online databases of Job Portals
But using a RESUME BLASTER APP , an enterprising graduate can ensure that his / her resume reaches the mailboxes of thousands of recruiters !
